Have you ever heard of a ‘Broccolatte’? Well if not, keep reading…

Did you ever realise there was such a thing as a Broccolatte? Neither did we until now! Find out more about this strange combination, where you can get it and why it’s growing in popularity! Keep reading…

First of all, what exactly is a ‘Broccolatte’?

Would you ever combine broccoli with your coffee?A Broccolatte sounds like an unusual combination, right? But don’t you worry! This isn’t actually as strange or as unusual as you think. This super health drink is perfect for anyone looking for healthier options!

The beverage is simply a blend of broccoli powder with espresso and frothed milk! Who knew, right? Its increasing in popularity due to its health properties and came about from Australian research, the CSIRO (the government’s leading research agency) and HORT Innovation. They developed a special type of broccoli powder which has all the nutrients and taste of this delicious vegetable only now its mixed with coffee!

This drink is perfect for smoothies, yogurt and even in the morning as a breakfast supplement. It is a very convenient way to receive your 5 a day! Get your health streak on by starting with this Brocolatte beverage.

Why is this so popular?

Broccolatte’s are so healthy because the broccoli powder is made up of one whole broccoli alongside the powder (two teaspoons). This came about because of research showing that many Australians were not getting their recommended daily intake of vegetables. So why not combine it with something the whole world loves to drink? Australians consume a lot of coffee, so the two were quickly fused together.

Studies also show that many Australians consume a lot of coffee which is why they came up with the idea to fuse the two ideas! This then encourages more people to drink their coffee filled beverages whilst being healthy at the same time. Smart idea!

Would you try some of this Broccolatte? If so, let us know how you find it! Email alistair@coinadrink.co.uk so we can hear back from you. Find out more information here;

Premium water coolers to help fight dehydration in the workplace.

Yes, unfortunately you did read that correctly. Keeping hydrated may slip your mind when the stresses of the working day take hold, but the fact is that water is a powerful fuel that strongly impacts the way we perform at work. In addition to that, it can also impact our overall health. Read on to learn more about the benefits, and how you can make it easy for yourself to consume your required quota with one of our premium water coolers

Keeping hydrated in the workplace is extremely important. Why is water so important for us?

Water is important for your body for so many reasons. It can help to improve brain functions, increase performance at work and aid against aches and pains. This isn’t all. The way that water cleanses your body is a natural, pure process and is therefore a great way to help your body fight anything that is trying to bring it down.

So, it’s quite clear that water keeps us hydrated, happy and healthy! It is important to get the amount you need, particularly in the workplace where your performance is important. But what is exactly is the required amount? It’s quite frustrating to see different figures presented to us online, and it makes the whole thing rather confusing. The general fact is this: the amount of water we truly need includes a lot of variables, including gender and how active you are. It is important to drink the amount that you need.

What is the recommended daily intake of water?

The daily intake is around eight glasses which is the equivalent to 2 litres, but remember that this could be more or less depending on the person. This means that you should be drinking enough so that your body can perform at it’s best at all times.

Obviously, we appreciate that remembering to consume the amount of fluids you need isn’t as easy as it sounds when you get caught up with work. That’s why it’s important to provide yourself with frequent reminders. Perhaps you could take it in turns with colleagues to do the ‘water run’, or take advantage of a plethora of applications on your smartphone to remind you that you need another glass or cup.

And then there’s the best reminder of them all; a premium water dispenser.

The B3 is one of the stylish new plumbed in water coolers from Borg.Premium water coolers tailored to suit your requirements.

Here at Coinadrink, we have a wide range of water coolers, or water dispensers as they’re so often called now, to choose from. They are either mains-fed or bottled and we also offer an integrated tap system for minimal effort and maximum quality. All our water solutions are enriched with quality, but differ in style, features and cost to suit all requirements and all budgets.

Our premium water coolers will help you to help your employees improve their performance and morale by keeping them hydrated whilst they work. Yes, there’s the kitchen tap, but only with a water dispenser or tap system can you guarantee deliciously cool filtered water from a stylish, contemporary design.

And for a limited time, we are running a promotion whereby you can receive 1000 free cups or three free bottles of water with our mains-fed water dispensers and bottled water coolers respectively. Don’t miss out on this fantastic offer to start boosting your workplace today. Contact us now!

The Flavia. A compact coffee machine that’s big on the environment!

Your Flavia is a compact coffee machine that serves you well every day. It’s on hand to help when the stresses of the working day take hold with delicious practical drinks, served up quickly and without any fuss. But just when you thought your smile couldn’t get any bigger, it’s now been revealed that each time you use your Flavia you’re contributing to a better world set for future generations.

Lavazza Professional’s aim is to ensure that every drink is as ethical as it is delicious, which includes every single beverage that you enjoy from your Flavia coffee machine in the workplace. So whether you prefer tea, coffee or hot chocolate, you can be sure that your Flavia is looking after the environment as well as your workforce.

Alterra Coffee.

For coffee lovers, Alterra is your go-to option. Lavazza prides themselves on the fact that the range comes from 100% certified sources, which means they have full traceability of where the beans come from. Every individual bean is accounted for from Nations’ including Brazil, Costa Rica, Kenya and Vietnam.

As an added bonus, Lavazza Professional is working closely with World Coffee Research, who support the scientific research for the purpose and benefit of the industry and the farmers within it. They have already helped fund a pilot farm in El Salvador researching coffee plants that are disease tolerant, which will, therefore, provide better quality coffee. You can read more on this here.

Bright Tea.

Bright Tea has been satisfying Flavia users for years, with breakfast and flavoured varieties available. Just like their coffee, their Bright Tea range comes from 100% sustainable sources, so they can trace back every step.

Lavazza Professional has been working with the Ethical Tea Partnership since the start of 2015, which helps tea farmers in Kenya to combat climate change. This project was enhanced two years later when the company partnered with the Kenya Tea Development Agency and Taylors of Harrogate. Within the first 12 months, this helped to reduce the energy consumption in 67 factories that produce tea!

You can read more about their work here.

Other Flavia drinks.

To date, 92% of their Galaxy hot chocolate ingredients come from sustainable sources, but they aim to increase this to 100% by 2020. They are already in a fantastic position to achieve this goal. Meanwhile, their Real Milk Froth, popular with coffee drinkers, are locally sourced in the UK!

More than just a compact coffee machine…

For those businesses that require a simple source of refreshment from a compact coffee machine, the Flavia has been the ideal choice for a long time. Each update to the Flavia is relatively small, due to Lavazza’s reluctance to alter a winning formula.

The extensive drinks menu is welcome, the hassle-free, no-mess sachets are ideal, and the speed in which you receive the perfect beverage is just what you need during break time.

We hope this article has helped you enjoy your office coffee machine just that bit more. It goes to show how Lavazza care just as much for the environment as they do for your beverage, which in today’s world is refreshing to hear.

If you’re someone who is yet to experience the Flavia coffee machine and you’re keen on exploring whether it can work for your business, contact us today for more information. Ideal for reception areas, showrooms and boardrooms, the Flavia is a great choice. Check out the video from Lavazza below:

Introducing rCUP, the world’s first reusable coffee cup made from used paper cups.

After a lot of anticipation, we can finally announce the exciting new product that is now available to order on our Refreshment Shop. The rCUP is a revolutionary product by ‘Ashortwalk’, who aim to make sure today’s waste is tomorrow’s product. With this in mind, rCUP not only reduces the amount of waste from used coffee cups but also provides an unrivalled drinking experience for the consumer.

So, what is the rCUP?

The rCUP is a reusable coffee cup, with each 12oz cup made from six used paper coffee cups. The cup has average durability of 10 years, which will save around 350 cups per person every year. Even beyond this, it can then be completely recycled with everyday household recycling!

rCUP is also leakproof and insulated and with a single push of the lid, you can open and close your cup with just one hand! This makes it perfect for on-the-go use, a trend that is becoming more and more popular.

No more cold coffee!

With previous takeaway cups, your beverage doesn’t remain hot for long, and even whilst it is the cup is often too hot to hold. With your insulated rCUP, tests have shown that your beverage will remain above 40 degrees for at least an hour. Finally, you can enjoy your hot drink at whatever pace you want without having to worry about it going cold! And no more burnt hands!

It’s leakproof!

A leakproof reusable cup has never sounded more appealing. Whether you work in an office, a warehouse or even a construction site, rCUP is perfect for all working environments. The cup lid has been designed to be leakproof, meaning your drink won’t spill providing you’ve remembered to close the lid. No more drinks knocked on your computer and no more work ruined by splashes of tea!

As an extra bonus, the 360-degree drinking experience, likewise to a non-takeaway cup, adds to its on-the-go nature. It also provides full aroma from your beverage, which according to experts is responsible for 90% of the coffee drinking experience.

Now available to order!

The rCUP is the latest addition to our Refreshment Shop and it’s now available to order in both 8oz and 12oz with a range of styles tailored to suit your taste. With this incredible new product, we can all help in reducing the amount of waste produced by single-use coffee cups, so be sure to visit the Refreshment Shop and get yours today!

The Nation’s favourite biscuit has been revealed. And it’s confusing.

There are so many different types of biscuit, it’s hard to decide on a favourite? Well, the nation has answered the question for you. Take a look at some of the top-ranking biscuits in the UK. One of them is debatable and it just so happens to be the most popular!

I want to know the best ranking biscuit…

Here are the top five ranked biscuits…

In fifth place, we have custard creams. This biscuit has the best of both worlds; a cream filling with two biscuit layers on either side creating the perfect biscuit sandwich!

In fourth place, we have chocolate digestives! This chocolate covered, aesthetically pleasing treats are great for dipping in your coffee or tea.

It’s getting closer to the winner now! Ooh, in third place we have Bourbons! These chocolatey, creamy sandwiches are to die for!

Second place is the unbeatable shortbread biscuits. These Scottish delights have the best buttery and crumbly texture ever.

Drum roll please… the winner of the UK’s best biscuit is… Jaffa Cakes! These fluffy, orange filled chocolate covered delights are undeniably delicious. Check out the classic advert from 7 years ago below!

However, there is something that’s causing some confusion here…

Is a Jaffa Cake a biscuit or a…cake?

This is an ongoing debate due to many people assuming that a Jaffa Cake is a cake, naturally, due to its name. Although, the width and depth of the Jaffa Cake mean it is actually classed as a biscuit. This is confusing, right?

Then there’s the other argument: the fact that cakes go hard when they are left out and biscuits go soft. Does this tell us what the Jaffa Cake is?

What do you think it is? A cake or a biscuit? Let us know by contacting us online or emailing alistair@coinadrink.co.uk.

As ‘The Cup Of Tomorrow’ reveal edges ever closer, remind yourself of our previous sustainability efforts!

Here at Coinadrink, we look for every possible way to support the environment and be as economical as we can. ‘The Cup Of Tomorrow’ is an example of this; an exciting new takeaway coffee cup that is ethically sourced and easily recycled at the end of its (very long!) life. It will be revealed next week so keep your eyes peeled across our social media, but why is it that we are making such a big deal about it? The fact is that sustainability has always been an important topic for us, and we’ve always gone the extra mile to take care of our planet.

The environment

We take pride in our environment and prioritise anything that can improve our planet for both ourselves and future generations. Every aspect of our company is closely monitored and regularly reviewed, from the vending machines we select to how we dispose of parts at the end of life. Cherry-picking an efficient vending machine is just as important for us as it is for the consumer, as it ensures our refurbished machines will continue to run smoothly years down the line.

Elsewhere, part of our service plan is a 2 hour response time, but we carefully select the routes our operators and engineers take for efficiency as well as speed. Our customer related management system (CRM) informs us of machines that need replenishing in real-time and the system helps us to adapt our routes to reach each site one after the other and without having to head in a completely different direction. This reduces fuel consumption.

Our products

Some of the products that we provide are ethically sourced and we support organisations such as Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance where we can. This provides a fair price for farmers’ products amongst the growing threat of multi-national organisations getting ahead, which leads to farmers having to accept a lower price. We strongly believe in giving smaller producers a fair deal and we work closely with suppliers that share a similar ethos around sustainability.

Our employees

Our success can be pinpointed to our staff, who remain loyal and hard-working every single day. We owe them a great deal and therefore return our gratitude where we can. All of our staff are on more than the National Living Wage and we invest in their potential by expanding their knowledge and skillset where possible. This may include courses and exams.

We were one of the first companies to hold the ‘Investors in People Gold’ accreditation, which shows we are doing right by our employees. Our average length of service stands at an impressive 13.2 years, and careers with us have sometimes started through work experience and or successful apprenticeship scheme we have in place.

We can’t wait for ‘The Cup Of Tomorrow’ to become the next step in our ongoing sustainability efforts…
