The Micro Market. Taking healthier eating seriously!

You will spend around a third of your life at work on average. So the workplace is the perfect environment to spread the message for healthy eating strategies. The Micro Market conforms to demand encourage a nutritious working day, from freshly prepared pasta pots to low calorie food and drink. Healthier eating starts here.

The Micro Market encourages healthier eating in the workplace with a wide range of products.Make it easy!

You’re more likely to eat healthy if healthier items are easily accessible. The Micro Market stocks everything in an open design whereby you can check calorie and nutritional information prior to purchase, so you get more of an idea if a product is secretly hiding a high sugar or salt content.

The cost of an unhealthy workforce is expected to cost the taxpayer £60 billion a year, so it is important to have healthier items available to provide your workforce with a choice. In 2017, it was understood that just 29% of adults were eating the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. The Micro Market encourages higher consumption with tasty fruit bags, perfect for that mid-morning snack!

Make it tasty!

And if you do want something a little “more”, the Micro Market offers low sugar and low-calorie goodies. Not only are there high fibre and low sugar breakfast bars available, but we have also recently added items including “Cadbury Dairy Milk 30% less sugar.” This provides the same taste of regular Dairy Milk, just with less sugar! The original bar contained 56g of sugar per 100g, whilst the latest one contains just 39g.

According to research, a team of 20 scientists, nutritionists and chocolatiers worked tirelessly for three years at the firm’s Reading and Bourneville facilities to cut the sugar content without adding any artificial sweeteners, colours or preservatives. If savoury is more your thing, we have a wide range of “light” crisps including Quavers and Popchips.

Additionally, many of our cold cans and bottles are either low or no sugar. These include Diet Coke, 7up Free and Vimto Light.

We said that the Micro Market had your entire working day covered and we meant it. Come dinner time, going healthy doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice on taste and quality. Freshly prepared pasta pots, sandwiches and wraps will take the hunger away and are so delicious you’ll want to come back the next day.

Healthier eating is encouraged through items such as pasta and tuna pots and low calorie snacks.Make it quick and simple!

All items are purchased through a cashless self-service terminal that prioritises speed and security. Only in June 2019 did research find that 1 in 10 adults in the UK now live a “cashless” lifestyle, and our Micro Market again conforms to demand. Unlike many other payment terminals, ours is bespoke to Express Refreshments which means we can make changes and improvements “on-the-fly”. This minimises downtime for you, the customer.

So, there you have it! The Micro Market really can encourage a healthier, happier working day with tasty and nutritious refreshments. It’s the perfect way to keep your workforce fed and watered and encourage healthier eating if you have a high volume of staff. Micro Market customers are advised to keep checking the media screens in their market to stay up to date with new products and promotions.

The Micro Market is a futuristic refreshment solution your business needs now!

This new year is a special one because it also marks the turn of a brand new decade. Therefore, you may be giving 2020 extra attention when it comes to planning some new years’ resolutions.

We, or rather the Micro Market, can help if any of those pledges stem around your workplace. Maybe you’re looking to increase staff morale. Perhaps you’re looking to make your business more attractive to future employees.

Either way, the Micro Market’s unique and advanced nature in keeping your workforce refreshed means it should at least pique your interest. And that’s before we even get onto the benefits.

What is a Micro Market?

It’s arguably the best way to implement refreshments into your business, particularly if you have a high volume of staff.

Think of it almost as a 24 hour Tesco Express, only one that’s entirely personal to you and your business with your own corporate colours and branding. That means your staff have around the clock access to a wide range of snacks, food and hot and cold drinks. This also makes the Micro Market ideal if your company operates unusual shift patterns.

The Micro Market’s open nature means you can browse at your leisure prior to purchase, checking calorie, ingredient and nutritional information. And when you’re ready to buy, an advanced self-service terminal utilises a cashless payment system that’s quick, secure and effortlessly simple.

How the Micro Market works in three simple steps.

  1. Make your selection from the wide range of choice on offer in an open-display design.
  2. Pay using an advanced self-service terminal that’s available to use 24 hours a day. No cash required.
  3. Enjoy at your desk or in your dedicated break out area.

This may all seem extremely futuristic, and it is, but it’s all set up to feel right at home in your workplace.

Feeling at home with grab-and-go.

The Micro Market is the master of ‘grab-and-go’. And it’s just as well. Grab and go is fast becoming the latest trend in the workplace, simply because employees don’t have time to enjoy a proper break time. They require refreshments at the exact time that suits them.

2019 saw the grab and go market worth over £21 billion worldwide, a steady increase of 3% from the previous year.

And with a huge 1.6 million of British workers taking less than 10 minutes for their lunch break, it’s clear that the grab and go market will continue to grow even further.

The Micro Market makes grabbing a bite to eat or a hot drink straightforward. Items are packaged with just that in mind, and the vast open-sourced nature of the market means queues and delays are minimal. You can’t say the same for a canteen, can you?

Healthier eating.

But should the desire for convenience outweigh the demand for nutrition? No.

An unhealthy diet can cause irritability and frustration. Conversely, eating healthy can provide more energy and boost productivity, amongst other benefits.

And seeing as the average employee spends over a third of their life at work, it’s vital to intertwine your workplace with any health and wellbeing strategies.

The Micro Market offers a wide range of healthier items, from low sugar drinks to freshly prepared sandwiches, salads, pasta pots and wraps.

So there’s certainly a wide selection when it comes to a nutritious snack or meal.

Varied products leave you spoilt for choice.

And that leads us on nicely to our next point.

According to Sodexo research, nearly half of UK employees do not have access to food at work. And 27% of those who do would rather skip a meal because there just isn’t enough choice.

We’ve already established that healthy workplace refreshments can improve morale and productivity. So going without or simply “making do” just isn’t an option.

Within the Micro Market, you have ample products for the working day and beyond. Everything from authentic hot drinks courtesy of a premium coffee machine to nutritional hot meals are available in an instant.

Making grab and go that bit more flavoursome.

The Micro Market remains a hidden gem that many businesses are yet to discover. And more besides in the Micro Market.

Express Refreshments developed the UK’s first Micro Market in 2013, identifying a gap in the market for larger businesses whereby premium and healthy refreshments weren’t easily accessible.

The last six-plus years has seen its popularity grow. And now there’s no question of how many advantages it can bring to your workplace.

The foundations of the Micro Market stem around the wellbeing of the workforce. Whilst it specialises in the convenience of grab and go, it can also be tied into your break out area to help encourage a relaxing break time with colleagues.

This will help increase staff engagement and spark a higher productivity level upon returning to work.

And as an employer, it’s important to work on workplace wellbeing in the hunt for that all-important increased productivity level.

Now the new decade is upon us, contact us today to experience the workplace phenomenon for yourself. Find out how effortless we make the whole process, from identifying your available space to creating a personal Micro Market to suit your requirements.

It all starts here.

As we enter 2020, there’s more to vending than meets the eye…

As we enter the dawn of a new decade, I want to take the time to debunk some negative vending myths. And emphasise just how important vending can be to your workplace.

It is estimated that the average employer will spend over 90,000 hours in the office across their lifetime. That means we need to ensure the workplace is a positive environment that will keep your workforce happy and productive.

But how can vending be the answer?

Ask someone what they think the term “vending” entails and your response will probably be something along the lines of tasteless coffee and crushed crisps that jam on the way down.

But we’re now in 2020. Vending hasn’t been anything like this for a long time. Instead, it takes on a more premium, dynamic, flexible approach. And it’s become a necessary aspect of your workplace wellbeing strategy.

Hot drinks machines, otherwise regarded as coffee machines, arguably best emphasise this. Working for a vending company myself, I’d certainly say so.

With advanced technology and stunning designs, coffee machines effortlessly capture the taste of the coffee shop. You know longer need to head off site for that Espresso first thing, nor for your mid-morning Latte.

Fresh coffee beans and fresh milk beverages help deliver a truly authentic beverage, on another level to what you’d perhaps previously expected. And if you’re more of a tea drinker than a coffee connoisseur, that’s fine, too!

The stats behind the science.

According to a report from Leesman Index, 56% of employees surveyed said break out zones are an important part of an effective workplace.

What’s more, a whopping 84% of the same respondents claimed tea, coffee and refreshment facilities are an important service feature for any business to have. This made it the number one desire out of all the responses!

I feel now is a good time to mention that just a 1% happier workforce could boost the UK economy by up to £24 billion a year. Providing your employees with what they want is a no brainer.

The fact is though, just 12% of office workers have on-site access to quality hot drinks machines. So it seems there’s a concerning disconnect between hot drinks facilities in the workplace and those desired.

There’s more to vending than just tea and coffee, however, and this only adds to the breadth of talents that the industry possesses. Snacks, fresh food and cold drinks machines have also developed parallel to growing trends in the field.

You don’t need me to remind you about the importance of healthier eating and drinking. It’s been a common piece of information for some time now.

But after establishing just how long the average UK employee spends at work, are you doing enough to encourage a healthier intake of food and drink?

With over 44% of us spending over 7 hours a day at our desks, it’s clear that we prefer to choose speed and convenience at the expense of health and nutrition.

What many of us don’t realise is that vending is the master at ‘grab-and-go’. It makes a quick bite to eat its speciality, if you’d pardon the pun. But that doesn’t mean that your choices need to be limited nor unhealthy.

Vending machines can offer a wide range of items to cover the entirety of the working day. A hearty pot of porridge can get you off to the best start, and there’s lots more throughout the day. These include high-fibre bars, low sugar drinks, pasta pots and freshly made sandwiches, wraps and salads.

You see, vending can be the healthy choice as well as the convenient one.

This provides the best of both worlds when your staff don’t have time to head off site. A vending machine can be a great way to entice a relaxing break time on site, kicking back with colleagues and improving engagement.

Choose vending in 2020!

One final stat for you: 67% of people in a recent survey said they felt more productive after a coffee break. I reckon that extends to a dinner break, too.

As an employer, isn’t that what you want? Choose vending in 2020!

Here’s a recap of 2019 for Coinadrink Limited…

2019 was our 57th year trading and just like the all the years’ before, we had lots going on and lots to shout about! From our new showroom to a new chosen charity, lets dive in for a recap of the past 12 months.

January – Fresh milk vending machine launches with the help of Coinadrink!

You only need to spend 5 minutes on the internet to realise that there’s a vending machine for almost anything these days. But when H W Chatham & Co wanted a machine to dispense glass bottles to fill with fresh milk from their farm, it was us who gave them a helping hand.

A fresh milk vending machine has launched in a Shropshire farm.

January – The Krea Touch arrives.

The new year bought a new machine to our range; the Krea Touch courtesy of Evoca. Fresh bean coffee is expertly dispensed from a bold design, and the Krea was another option for those looking to bring the taste of the coffee shop into the workplace.

The Krea Touch tabletop is one of our recent additions.

January – The Cali is another new arrival.

January was certainly a busy month for us! The Cali is a reliable and robust floor standing machine that offers up to 28 drink selections – many of which are crafted using fresh coffee beans. If you’re looking to offer refreshments to a high volume of staff and visitors, the Cali is a great choice.

The Cali is a stylish and reliable hot drinks machine.

February – The (customer care) results are in…

Ok, this was technically from 2018, February 2019 saw us announce our customer care results from the previous year. 99% of respondents said they would recommend us if asked by a colleague, which set the trend for some very positive results indeed. Coinadrink is a vending supplier you can rely on.

We always go the extra mile for our customers.

March – Our new showroom launched!

After months of planning and hard work, March saw us unveil our brand-new showroom. A vast, modern, open space captured the best of our business, with cutting edge equipment on display including fresh milk coffee machines and even our Micro Market! We also introduced a new way for visitors to view our showroom, and services, for themselves, by booking an appointment on our website to come in.

Make sure you book your FREE place to our exclusive Black Country Business Festival event!

March – Express and Star Business Award finalists!

For the third time in less than a year, Coinadrink were finalists in an award entry – this time it was for the Express and Star. We entered their ‘Best use of Technology’ award, and the judges were obviously impressed by the way we had successfully implemented technology into our business.

Here's the letter telling us we've been selected as a finalist in the Express and Star Business Awards!

April – The Vitro S1 joins us.

Stylish, smart and durable, the Vitro S1 altered the definition of a cost-effective coffee machine. Hidden in its compact design is great tasting instant coffee that provides everything you need and nothing more, with a practical selection process that is easy to use.

May – The trends of the vending industry explored.

This isn’t really one for us specifically, but a good one to look back to remind us how far the vending industry has travelled. May saw us take a closer look at some of the growing trends, which include fresh milk coffee, mobile and contactless payments and heathier products in the machines.

Have you considered a vending machine in the workplace?

May – Hosting our own Black Country Business Festival event!

Monday 13th May saw us host our very own Black Country Business Festival event in our new showroom, as part of the annual two-week festival. Our event was based around the wellbeing of the workforce, and how vending and workplace refreshments can help!

May – Our first exhibition of the year.

We engaged a lot with the Black Country Chamber in May. No sooner had our business festival event ended, our first exhibition of the year rolled around. May 22nd saw Coinadrink at the GTG Training Academy in Wednesfield, showcasing our services and their benefits to a large audience.

June – Promoting the Micro Market.

As a follow up to healthier eating in the workplace, we took an opportunity in June to promote our Micro Market. With a wide range of products for the working day and beyond, the Micro Market encourages a healthier break time with colleagues.

Express Refreshments does Black Friday!

July – Attending our first Midlands Business Network exhibition as an exhibitor.

The Midlands Business Network offers Midlands businesses the chance to come together and show off their services. But up until July, we had only previously attended as a visitor. This time, however, we graced Villa Park in Birmingham as both Coinadrink and Express Refreshments, and visitors were intrigued by what we had to offer.

July – A hattrick of exciting new water coolers make their debut.

We’ve always encouraged healthy hydration in the workplace. It helps improve health, mood and productivity. Borg’s line of water coolers is both stylish and advanced, and in July we took advantage to start offering the new B2, B3 and B4 plumbed in dispensers to our customers.

The B3 is one of the stylish new plumbed in water coolers from Borg.

August – Introducing rCUP, a revolutionary takeaway coffee cup!

Our online Refreshment Shop had an exciting new product land back in August, in the form of an exciting new takeaway coffee cup. rCUP was crafted using used paper coffee cups, the first takeaway coffee cup to do so, and utilises a wide range of neat features to make it the complete coffee cup.

rCUP

September – Do you have a vending machine?

September saw us inform our readers as to the benefits of having a vending machine installed in the workplace. From higher productivity, a more prestigious image to your visitors and low overheads, we went into detail as to why you need a vending machine installed.

September – Another Midlands Business Network Expo.

This time we were at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, though in every other aspect it was much the same as the one in July. Coinadrink, Express Refreshments, and lots of interested visitors!

October – Make that three Midlands Business Network exhibitions!

This was the last one for 2019, we promise. We explored the region in style, with the third and final exhibition coming from Edgbaston in Birmingham. This time there was a special surprise for visitors, as Liverpool FC legend John Barnes was there as a formal guest.

October midlands business network

October – We attended the Black Country Business Fayre.

We gave attendees a special offer on the revolutionary rCUP, as part of an exhibition that was a little bit different to the norm. The Fayre acted a little bit like a ‘speed dating’ event, where visitors quickly headed to your stand to see what you had to offer them there and then.

October – La Radiosa makes heads turn…

We save the *best* machine arrival till last. La Radiosa is a truly luxurious coffee machine that’s nothing like you’ve ever seen before. In fact, we said at the time that calling it a coffee machine just doesn’t do this marvellous creation justice…

La Radiosa is here. This is more than just a coffee machine...

October – Introducing The Way as our chosen charity!

Charity work is embedded in our DNA here at Coinadrink, and we often like to mix it up to show our support for lots of excellent charities. October 2019 saw us start working with The Way Youth Zone in Wolverhampton, a place where people aged 8 to 19 can go to have fun, learn and grow.

November – Another charitable Black Friday promotion.

The Black Friday phenomenon once again reached us in November, and like last year we decided to use it as an opportunity to support some excellent charities on behalf of Express Refreshments. This was through working with our own customers.

November – Finalists in the Black Country Chamber Awards!

We didn’t win, but what a night it was! The Wolverhampton Racecourse hosted a sensational evening for all the award finalists, including us for the ‘Family Business of the Year’ award. Fine food, fine entertainment and fine company.

December – Festive and charitable fun…

If you can’t have a bit of fun in December, when can you? This month has been the pinnacle of what has been a very active year for us, and all of our staff came together for both Christmas Jumper Day and our annual Christmas buffet. Of course, there was still a charitable background to the festivities, with all money raised going to St Giles Hospice.

See you next year!

So, there you have it. 2019 has absolutely flew by, but what a year it has been. On behalf of everyone at Coinadrink, Refreshment Shop and Express Refreshments, we hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year.

See you in 2020!

A Christmas promotion and some festive goodies: now in your Micro Market!

‘Tis the season to be jolly…and Express Refreshments will have plenty to keep festive spirits high this December! It’s very important that workplaces embrace the Christmas period because it’s a great way to boost morale during a time when it can be all too easy to suffer a lapse in productivity. We’ve now added some seasonal products to your Micro Market whilst also encouraging you to keep warm with a hot drink promotion!

Keep warm this winter!

Every morning is the same now. Dark, cold and usually frosty. Such conditions hardly encourage us to get out of bed this morning, but the Micro Market does its best to welcome you into work.

Not only can you enjoy a hearty breakfast, but your coffee machine provides a truly authentic way to provide the best start to the day. Just as the weather is starting to turn properly chilly, cheer yourself up with a hot drink of your choice and enjoy a Jaffa Cake bar for just an extra 20p!

Who’s really going to blame you in the run up to Christmas?

How about this festive feast? Express Refreshments goes festive!

If your business is too snowed under to give Christmas a second thought, don’t worry. We’ve got your back! We’re embracing the festive spirit to provide your employees with the lift they need.

In the run up to Christmas, enjoy a delicious Turkey, Stuffing and Cranberry role for your dinner. Moreover, we’re also adding the Festive Feast sandwich, described as ‘succulent Pennine Turkey breast with sliced pork sausage, cranberry sauce and a bacon and stuffing mayonnaise of soft grain bread’. How does that sound then?

The stats around festive workplace cheer.

A study from Christmas Tree World found that 60% of 1000 adults surveyed said they are more likely to work hard if Christmas incentives are available. These don’t need to be financial rewards, though. Nearly three quarters said office festivities such as treats and decorations are all that’s needed.

Adding some festivity to your working day is also a great way to show appreciation to your staff for a hard-working year. Ending the year on a high with a happy team can be a catalyst for starting the new year with a bang.

Keep your eye out for the festive treats in your Micro Market, they’re a great alternative when it comes to dinner time.
