Looking to effectively recycle your paper cups? We’re using the coffee box!

It goes without saying that effective cup recycling is a big topic within the vending industry and we always push the boundaries of what’s possible for both our customers and our staff. Recently we have started adding effective recycling outlets into our building that our employees are encouraged to make use of. These include the revolutionary new coffee box courtesy of a company called DS Smith.

How does the coffee box work?

So how do these coffee boxes work exactly? DS Smith owns a network of paper mills all over the world and their mill in Kent is the largest in the UK. There is enough capacity to both house and recycle 2.5 billion used coffee cups, and their recycling facilities are also able to accommodate the cardboard boxes themselves. Not only does this guarantee that the cups and boxes are recycled here in the UK, but the company are also able to use the recycled cups to repurpose into new packaging, paper or even a new box straight from the recycled materials. This makes it a truly circular solution that we’re excited to be on board with.

 

 

 Why are we trialling the coffee box?

These coffee boxes are on trial with us for the time being. The aim of the trial is to see how feasible a service this is to recommend to our paper cup customers who are requesting more information about recycling, but it’s also a great opportunity for us to do our bit for the environment. After all, how we can push the importance of sustainability if we don’t recognise the problem ourselves? This new incentive may seem nothing special, but it keeps in line with our stringent CSR policy that makes our environment a big priority.
