As the scary situation regarding COVID-19 continues to escalate, health and safety is now of paramount importance for us all, even if it wasn’t already. We all need to take extra care at home, in the workplace and whilst we are out and about.
Coinadrink Limited has always been pro-active, not reactive, in this field, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the workplace for the peace of mind of our staff and customers. And we hold the ISO 45001 accreditation to prove it.
What is ISO 45001?
You won’t be alone in asking this, we’re sure. ISO stands for International Organisation for Standardisation. International Standards cover a wide range of sectors including quality, safety and efficiency and are instrumental in facilitating international trade.
ISO 45001 is the accreditation for occupational health and safety, or health and safety in the workplace to put it another way. It builds on the success of earlier international standards in this field including OHSAS 18001. The accreditation is awarded to organisations who display real commitment in improving employee safety and reducing workplace risks. This includes, but is not limited to, creating a culture whereby staff understand the importance of health and safety and are able to become pro-active as individuals.
You will spend around 90,000 hours of your life at work. A startling statistic we know, and one that captures the scale of the importance surrounding safer working conditions. Despite this, the International Labour Organisation have reported that more than 7000 workers die from work-related accidents or diseases every single day. By holding the ISO 45001 accreditation, we are playing our part in saving nearly 3 million lives every single year!

What does this mean for Coinadrink, and for you?
Coinadrink was one of the first UK companies to achieve the ISO 45001 accreditation, meaning we were one of the first UK companies to conform to the world class specification that is required. We also hold the ISO 9001 and 14001 accreditations for quality and the environment respectively, as well as having a 5 star food hygiene rating!
The ISO 45001 accreditation is a risk-based approach that is flexible enough to fit in with a companies’ industry and context. So, as an example, one of the areas we had to focus on prior to being awarded with the accreditation was hygiene. This is always reassuring for our staff and customers, and never more so than now.
COVID-19 has naturally concerned absolutely everyone on the planet. Our customers have asked us lots of questions regarding the steps we take to ensure of good hygiene not only on our own premises, but on theirs, too. As mentioned in the introduction to this post, we have always been pro-active in this field.
The steps we take are deliberate as so to keep you, your customers and our own staff safe. We are also extremely proud to say that we typically do much, much more than our competition. During a time of worry and uncertainty, we will be sharing with you a series of blog posts outlining everything we do that is included in our approach. Because you can never do too much in the face of health and safety.
